Come join us for a unique and entertaining event exploring the remarkable history of the natural and organic foods movement – several battles of which were fought right here in Washington.  Smithsonian Food Curator Paula Johnson will moderate a lively discussion featuring Seth Goldman, President and TeaEO of Bethesda’s own Honest Tea and author of the new book Mission in a Bottle; and Joe Dobrow, former head of marketing for Whole Foods and Fresh Fields and author of the new book Natural Prophets.  Referencing their own businesses and the collections in the Museum, they will explore how the natural foods industry went from a “hippie sideshow” to a $100 billion business that is now exerting great influence over not just what we eat, but how business is conducted – even as it faces major new challenges like the labeling of genetically modified foods.

Space is limited, so reserve now.  Free samples of Honest Tea, OCHO organic chocolate bars and other organic foods will be available.  Both books will be available for purchase and signing after the event.
